The confronting death, captured on video and circulated on news and social media, ignited a depth of feeling across black communities in America. This year the black community is reeling from an alarmingly high death and infection rate suffered during the pandemic, and coping with a string of violent deaths and assaults at the hands of police. While we watched in horror at this all unfold from across the globe we spoke to Kwesi Chappin, Senior Political Director at Color of Change, someone at the frontline of these events, now turning despair into hope and hope into action to achieve justice for black people in America.
